Service Description

A deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique focused on targeting the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to alleviate chronic tension, muscle knots, and areas of discomfort. This massage utilizes firm pressure and slow, deliberate strokes to reach the inner layers of muscles and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It is particularly effective for individuals with chronic muscle pain, stiffness, or tension from repetitive motion, poor posture, or injury. By focusing on specific problem areas, deep tissue massage helps to release tight muscles, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation. The technique can also aid in breaking up adhesion's (scar tissue) and promoting overall muscle recovery and flexibility. Although the pressure applied may be intense, the goal is to relieve long-term pain and improve mobility. As with all forms of massage, it is essential that the therapist tailors the session to the individual’s needs and adjusts pressure to ensure comfort while still achieving therapeutic benefits. Acute Inflammation or Injury: If a person is experiencing acute inflammation, bruising, or recent injury (e.g., sprains, strains), deep tissue massage can worsen swelling and pain. Blood Clots (Deep Vein Thrombosis - DVT): Deep tissue massage can dislodge a blood clot, potentially leading to serious complications such as a stroke or pulmonary embolism. Severe Osteoporosis: Individuals with osteoporosis have brittle bones that may be vulnerable to injury from deep pressure, particularly in areas such as the spine or joints. Cancer: While gentle, therapeutic touch may benefit some cancer patients, deep tissue massage may not be recommended during active cancer treatment due to the intensity of the pressure, which could potentially aggravate certain conditions or areas of the body. Skin Conditions: Conditions such as rashes, open wounds, or infections (e.g., cellulitis or herpes) may be irritated further by the deep pressure and should be avoided. Heart Conditions: Those with heart disease, high blood pressure, or other cardiovascular issues should consult a doctor before receiving deep tissue massage, as the intensity of pressure may be a concern. Pregnancy: Deep tissue massage is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Specific techniques and pressure points may be contraindicated to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby. Recent Surgery Neurological Disorders Fever
